Celebrating a Year of Accomplishments

The Foundation Annual Meeting & Dinner

Over 100 of the CCC Foundation’s closest friends and supporters joined the Board of Directors   at the Abernethy Center on June 4 for the annual meeting and celebration of the year in review.

Following is an excerpt of Foundation President, Jerry Turner’s, comments:

“Looking back over the past year, there are so many accomplishments, that I can only hit some of the highlights for you.

Just after last year’s Annual Dinner, CCC unveiled its planned capital bond.  Foundation members and many of you went right to work, helping educate our neighbors about the amazing power of our community college.  Some of you joined us for dinner at the Canby Rodeo, where CCC Board of Education member Ron Adams reinforced the importance of our efforts at raising friends and funds for our students and passing the bond.

We also met at St. Josef's winery for music and barbeque. We had a great ParTee on the Green after the Corporate Challenge Golf Tournament, where you all raised your paddles high in support of scholarships at CCC.  Once again were reminded by our President, Joanne Truesdell, how important our bond campaign was.  And, THANKS TO YOU, that bond passed in November.

Once again the heart of the wonderful people working at CCC continues the amazing culture of giving at Clackamas. Over 75 percent of all CCC employees participated in the Annual Staff Fundraising Drive, giving generously for scholarships and instructional support.

In January, we had a formal kick-off party for our $10 Million “Education That Works” Campaign to add significant private contributions to the $90 million in public investment.  What seemed like a lofty goal is fast becoming reality, with just over $7 MILLION raised to date!  THANKS TO YOU.

This past February, a group who began the Military Family Scholarship Endowment held a standing-room-only book signing and reception for one of the last living P38 pilots from WWII, Bob Vrilakas.  It was a wonderful afternoon, and a fitting kickoff to our renewed efforts to bring our total scholarship endowment for our vets and their families to $1million.  And we WILL get there, THANKS TO YOU.

Whenever we get together, it’s with one goal in mind: to help break through the number one barrier to student success here at CCC – FINANCES. Together we fund scholarships that get people training and education for high-demand, family-wage jobs. And for the first year in nearly a decade, our Foundation is awarding more than $600,000 in scholarships in this academic year. THANKS TO YOU.”
