In Memory of Robert L. Stein

July 19, 1930 - Jan. 6, 2020

Robert "Bob" died peacefully in his home Jan. 6, 2020, surrounded by loved ones. Bob was a devoted family man, good friend to many and a successful businessman.

Born in Portland, Bob was raised in West Linn, Ore., where he also raised his family. He attended West Linn High School, class of 1950 and Lewis & Clark College, Class of 1954. Bob pursued his masters in business at NYU and returned home to join his father Frank Stein in running Tidewater Oil Company, a home heating oil delivery business, which later evolved into Stein Oil Company.

Bob grew his petroleum marketing business into a successful enterprise of gas stations, commercial card locks, convenience stores and car washes. He could be seen on the job until the last days of his life. He was dedicated to his community and was a member of Oregon City Rotary, and a loyal supporter of Clackamas Community College. He will be remembered by all for his love and devotion to family, friends and business associates.

A Celebration of Life event will be held from 1 - 4 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2020, at the Oregon Golf Club.

The family suggests sending memorial contributions in lieu of flowers by filling in the giving form below or with “Bob Stein” in the memo of a check paid to Clackamas Community College Foundation, 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City OR  97045.

The family will be notified of all contributions in memory of Bob.
