In memory of David Campbell

David Campbell passed away peacefully at home Nov. 11, 2020 in Portland, Oregon. He had been in Hospice care for three months.

He was a loving father, husband and grandfather. David loved life. For much of his life he was a runner, a bicycler, a kayaker, a skier and a hiker. He climbed Mt. Hood three times. He also got his Pilot’s license and owned his own airplane for a while. He always had a dog.

He was in the Peace Corps, in Venezuela, for two years following college. He became fluent in Spanish and traveled to many Latin American countries.

He retired as a counselor at Clackamas Community College after 25 years. During that time, he helped many people. Clackamas Community College is where he met his wife, Kathy, and they celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in August, 2020. David and Kathy endowed the David and Kathy Campbell scholarship to assist undocumented students obtain an education. He remained friends with many of his colleagues after his retirement. He left a big hole in the hearts of many.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Neuville Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his daughter, Christy Campbell Clement (Adam Clement), his son, Roy Scheer (Rebecca Orr), grandsons, Porter Scott Wheeler and Miles Campbell Wheeler, brother John Campbell (Linda) of Cohasset, MA and sister, Coralee Wolfe (Dennis) of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Donations can be made to the David and Kathy Campbell Endowment at the Clackamas Community College Foundation.

Due to the current health crises, no official memorial service will be planned.
