Remembering Damon Schrosk

Damon Schrosk focused his passion for biology and ecology onto the subject of trees. He grew up and attended college in San Diego where he met his future wife, Andrea. They moved to Portland in 1996, then to rural Colton in 1998. They founded Treecology Inc, a small but highly regarded, always preservation oriented, tree care and consulting company in 2001. It was successful until it was sold in 2023. Over the years Damon had a focus on volunteering, mentoring & educating, and workforce development.

He worked tirelessly to raise the bar on tree care in the Metro area. Damon personally instructed over 700 people in the art and science of caring for and working with trees. He did this through training employees, conducting workshops, crew leading for Friends of Trees planting events, partnering with Eco Trust Green Workforce Academy and PGE Project Zero introducing underrepresented folks to tree care, and hiring CCC interns. He served in many other volunteering positions including the Portland Urban Forestry Commision, PNW ISA, and the board of Johnson Creek Watershed Council. Damon was involved with the launch of the Arboriculture program at CCC and was an assistant instructor and donor for many years.

Damon passed on his love of trees and the outdoors to his two sons, one of whom is a working arborist and the other is pursuing science communication.

The Damon Schrosk Memorial Endowed Scholarship will support future generations of CCC student arborists as they pursue ISA certifications and careers in trees. This scholarship is a natural continuation of Damon's drive to improve the levels of education and access for all folks wanting to enter the wonderful world of trees.
