Basic Needs Support That Changes Futures
In 2025, CCC Foundation distributed over $177,000 in basic needs support to students, helping them access essential resources like food, housing, and transportation. CCC Foundation provided more direct support than the organization ever has this past year, and we have community partners and donors to thank for maintaining momentum and making support of basic needs a core part of what we do. Here are some highlights from the last year:
- 158 students supported
- $177,000 total funds disbursed
- $115,000 housing expenses covered
- $39,000 in utilities paid
- $6,000 in childcare support
- $3,000 in transportation assistance
- $10,000 in miscellaneous living expenses
Reaffirming our long-term commitment to supporting students, Foundation staff and Board of Directors partnered to establish the Basic Needs Endowment at $1 million to address financial insecurity, a major barrier to student success. This endowment creates a sustaining resource for students facing urgent life challenges.
CCC Foundation’s continued fundraising and advocacy around meeting students’ basic needs reflect a commitment to shifting the narrative around college life. Financial insecurity should not be an assumed part of the college experience. By addressing basic needs, CCC Foundation reinforces a culture of care that recognizes students as individuals balancing school, work, families, and other responsibilities. This support gives students the stability to focus and progress in their educational goals.
Food Security for Student Success
Food insecurity has long affected CCC students and the broader community. Cougar Food Pantries on all three CCC campuses provide students and community members with nutritious food and essential hygiene items so they can focus on education and daily life. When SNAP benefits were disrupted in fall 2025, our donors and community stepped up to ensure everyone impacted did not go hungry. Over $20,000 was raised that went to immediate use to stock the pantries with essential items!
Recognizing this ongoing need, the CCC Foundation established the Food Pantry Endowment in 2025 in partnership with Associated Student Government, reaching full funding in the first year of fundraising thanks to generous donors who recognize that students have a hard time learning when they are hungry. All funding for the pantries allows CCC Foundation to help to meet growing demand and keep pantry shelves full.
